Welcome to my stories…
Are you ready to hop on the Zabelicious fun wheel? What is Zabelicious, you ask? Delicious. Unstoppable. Unpredictable. I like to mix it up in the kitchen.
I rarely follow recipes. I prefer to improvise. The result is usually Zabelicious. I look forward to sharing those creations and inspiring stories from the heart of the Midwest. Discover the art of journaling through my coaching tips and tools. Hop on the fun wheel and buckle up. I hope you enjoy the ride and visit Zabelicious Life often.

Lake Life Reimagined
Living on a lake has always been a dream of mine. If I close my eyes, I can almost picture it. The sky blue waves crashing against the shore of our cozy lakeside cottage in Minnesota. Our family gathered around a crackling fire toasting S’mores after a full day boating.
A London Escape Safe at Home
London is currently on lockdown. Until you can visit in person, pop in a movie or watch a series set in London. It won’t be the same as touring the royal city in person, but it will temporarily transport you there and might tide you over until your next trip. Bon voyage!
Wheat Berry Salad
This colorful salad packed with essential nutrients was inspired by one on the menu at The Dog and Duck, a historic British pub in Soho. Bursting with a sweet, nutty flavor, tossed with my own Zabelicious Dressing, it's the perfect combination to please your palate.
Pumpkin Muffins
These pumpkin muffins are exceptional and are a favorite of family and friends, who always ask for the recipe. Check out the funny story of how these muffins ended up on the wrong doorstep one frigid night!
Melting Moments
Here’s a family favorite cookie that truly melts in your mouth! A dear friend shared the recipe with me over twenty years ago.
Why Journal?
Everyone has a story. What’s yours? I am a storyteller at heart and was born curious. At a young age, I walked around the house with a tape recorder interviewing family members. Later, I would share their stories in pretend newscasts, which paved the way for my early career in broadcast journalism.
Haluskanating Over the Blue Danube
There was always room for company at Grandma and Grandpa Haluska’s table. It wasn’t fancy or very large, but it was always set properly, with placemats or a tablecloth, and Grandma’s beautiful blue and white china.
Quarter Turn
Every day is filled with moments of choice. Lots of little things that can impact your life in a big way. How we respond is up to us.
The Dog and Duck
The Dog and the Duck. Two couples, a London pub, and a shared anniversary lead to a friendship that spans continents.
The Dog and Duck, Afterward
Once restrictions are lifted, the streets of London will be buzzing with night life again. When that time comes, I highly recommend you pop into a tiny British pub called, The Dog and Duck. You never know who you might meet.
My Garden of Friendship

The Story Behind Zabelicious Cookies
A creation of mine that came out of a sparse pantry on a wintry day, when the kids were young and I couldn’t get to the grocery store.
Calendar Crazy for 2021!
I prefer the romance of writing with a feathered pen in an old school paper planner, which usually doubles as a journal. Selecting the perfect one is an expedition, like no other.
